Your information, handled with care

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Sew Seam collects and uses personal information when you visit our website, contact us or request a fitting.

Last updated: 7 October 2026

We use the information you share to respond to enquiries, arrange fittings and provide our tailoring services. Please only include information relevant to your request.

1. Who we are

Sew Seam provides tailoring, clothing alterations and garment repair services. Sew Seam is responsible for the personal information it collects through this website and its customer communications.

For questions about your information, email sewseamcouk@gmail.com . Our address is 260 W Hendon Broadway, London NW9 6AG, United Kingdom.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use our website and services, we may collect:

  • Contact enquiries: your name, email address, phone number if provided, subject and message.
  • Appointment requests: your name, email address, phone number, requested service, preferred date and time, and additional garment or event details.
  • Customer reviews: your name, optional email address and location, rating and review text.
  • Customer communications: information you send by email, phone or WhatsApp, including garment photographs or measurements if you choose to share them.
  • Technical information: session identifiers and information recorded in hosting or security logs, which may include your IP address, browser information, request time and pages requested.

Required form fields are marked with an asterisk. Without the relevant contact and service details, we may be unable to respond or arrange your fitting. Optional fields can be left blank.

Please avoid sending payment card details, identification documents or sensitive personal information through these forms.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and discuss your requirements.
  • Arrange fittings and confirm appointment availability.
  • Provide tailoring, alteration and repair services.
  • Communicate about your garment and service progress.
  • Moderate and publish approved customer reviews.
  • Prevent spam, investigate errors and protect the website.
  • Maintain relevant business records and handle disputes.

Submitting a contact or appointment form does not sign you up to a marketing mailing list.

5. Customer reviews

Reviews submitted through the website are sent for moderation and are not published automatically. Approved reviews may display your name, rating, review text and location if provided.

Your review email address is not displayed publicly. Avoid including private contact details or information about other people in your review.

You can contact us to request removal of your review or withdraw permission for its publication.

6. Sharing your information

Your details may be accessible to people responsible for handling enquiries, appointments and services, and to providers that support those activities. These may include:

  • Website hosting and database providers, including Hostinger.
  • Email providers, including Google/Gmail, used for notifications and correspondence.
  • Technical support providers where access is needed to maintain or troubleshoot the website.
  • Authorities or professional advisers where disclosure is required by law or necessary to handle a legal matter.

Form submission notifications may contain the information you entered and may be stored in our email account as well as the website database.

Some service providers operate internationally and may process information outside the UK. The arrangements depend on the provider and service used. Contact us if you need information about the transfers and safeguards applicable to your details.

7. WhatsApp and external services

The “Send via WhatsApp” button uses the details entered in the form to prepare a message and open WhatsApp. You must press Send in WhatsApp to deliver that message to us.

Using this button does not submit the form to our website database. The prepared message is included in the WhatsApp link, so the information is passed to that external service when you open it.

WhatsApp handles information under its own privacy terms. You can read its Privacy Policy.

Our contact page also displays a Google Maps embed. Loading the map may share technical information, such as your IP address, with Google. External map and social links take you to services with their own privacy policies.

8. Cookies and website security

The website uses a session cookie to support form security, submission notices and administrator login sessions. It is normally a session cookie rather than a permanent cookie, although browsers may restore sessions according to their settings.

You can manage cookies through your browser. Blocking session cookies may prevent forms or administrator login features from working correctly. Third-party services, including embedded maps, may use their own cookies or similar technologies.

We use access controls, form validation and other technical measures to reduce unauthorised access and misuse. No website or communication method can guarantee complete security.

9. How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. In deciding how long to retain it, we consider:

  • Whether an enquiry, fitting or service is still being handled.
  • Whether records are needed for follow-up, complaints or disputes.
  • Applicable accounting, legal or record-keeping requirements.
  • Whether an approved review remains published, and whether you have requested its removal.
  • Security investigations and the retention settings of hosting logs, email and backups.

When information is no longer needed, it should be deleted or anonymised. Copies in backups may remain until those backups are replaced or expire. Contact us for details about a particular record.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable exemptions, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your information.
  • Ask us to restrict how we use your information.
  • Request a portable copy where that right applies.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, without affecting earlier lawful use.

Your right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your situation. You can also object to direct marketing at any time.

To make a request, email sewseamcouk@gmail.com . We may ask for information needed to verify your identity before releasing or changing records.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. You can contact us first if you would like us to address your concern.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our website, services or information handling practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest update. Where appropriate, we will communicate significant changes directly to affected customers.
